We gratefully acknowledge the expertise and support of World Joy’s Board of Directors. This group of dedicated professionals and community leaders meets every other month in Bountiful, Utah to govern policy, programs, and projects.

The Executive Committee also meets bi-monthly to direct and manage ongoing Development, Education, and Heath related activities being planned locally and in the field.

Isaac C. Ferguson, Board Chair

Isaac “Ike” Ferguson has been jostling over the back roads of Ghana and many other African countries since the 1970’s when he was employed by the LDS Church as Director of the Thrasher Research Fund and later as the founding Director of LDS Humanitarian Services. With a PhD in public health and international development, he spent his career designing and carrying out health, education and other development programs in Africa and many other parts of the world. Ike joined the World Joy Board in 2008 and currently serves as Chair where he is integral to the strengthening of World Joy’s field programs.

Wendy Hyde, Development Committee

Wendy first came into contact with World Joy in 2006, when she spearheaded a campaign to raise money for World Joy projects at her daughters’ school, Legacy Academy. Through Wendy’s leadership students, parents, and community members contributed to funds that were used to build three schools in Asunafo. Wendy and her husband traveled with their family to Ghana to attend the dedication of Asunafo’s first school, so she has experienced the joy of World Joy firsthand!

After becoming a board member, Wendy created World Joy’s Junior Board, a group of 20 high school students with a common mission of financially supporting World Joy projects. Under Wendy’s Leadership, the Junior Board traveled to Ghana in March, 2014 to participate in the dedication services for the new learning center in Abomosu. Jody Porter, another World Joy Board member and her volunteers from North Logan, UT, along with Wendy and the Junior Board members raised almost $60,000 for the construction of the learning center.
